Back in 2005 we started a few stores that sold furniture, powersports, home & garden, appliances, toys, and tools. Competition was tough, and we were fighting a losing battle by competing with the big brand name stores. With our overhead of owning warehouses and having employees we weren’t satisfied just buying wholesale from the same catalogs that our much larger competitors were buying from, so we went direct to the source. We noticed that on the boxes of the items we purchased from these wholesalers was "Made in China" and "Made in Mexico" and "Made in Malaysia" so forth and so on, and so we literally went to these places to drill down on who was making these items and at what cost we could buy them directly. We gained a wealth of knowledge from our travels. We spent countless hours, days, weeks, and months sourcing factories, making partners and friends, and learning and understanding the world of Import and direct buying.

In a nutshell, we built Buildacontainer™ out of necessity. As a business we needed a platform to compete on price and quality, and the only way to do that was to IMPORT and BUY DIRECT. With factories willing to work with us, we came home and put our engineers to work to develop the first Buildacontainer™ system.

Word got out that we had developed this Buildacontainer™ system, and it didn’t take long before we had friends, family, local businesses, and even competitors in our door looking over our shoulder to see the items that we were bringing in and the system we were using to do it. The demand for an “Importing made simple” was blaring, it was then that we decided to commercialize Buildacontainer™ and offer it as a system everyone could use to enhance their business and lifestyle.
